Online Education at Baker College
About Baker Online

Over 32,000 students worldwide have found Baker to be their best choice in online education. Baker College Online is a division of Baker College, a fully accredited, private, not-for-profit career college system established in 1911. Baker's 34 different online degree programs are designed to prepare you 100 percent for your new career or advanced position as quickly as possible, with no additional training required. Baker offers Master degrees, Bachelor degrees, and Associate degrees in growing, high-demand career fields.

How Does It Work?

At Baker College Online, you take your entire degree program through your computer, using the Internet to link faculty and students. This process can occur between two computers in the same town or between computers on opposite sides of the earth, at whatever time best fits into your schedule.

All students in Baker's online environment become actively involved in interactive learning groups. Courses are typically six weeks in length and have regularly scheduled beginning and end dates. On the first day of each course the online instructor sends an introductory lecture to begin the study process for the week. To stimulate discussions, the instructor would also typically include discussion questions related to the topic at the end of his/her lecture.

As the week progresses, you work on your readings and assignments, and you participate in classroom discussions using the computer. Your instructors are readily available to receive your questions and to provide feedback, and they keep you informed of your status weekly. You should never be unaware of what is expected of you.
Do I Quality? How Much Does It Cost?

Baker's online students must have experience with computers, know-how to load software and know-how to use a word processing program (ie: Microsoft Word). Prior to registering for your first online course, you must complete a technical orientation. Your Development Coordinator will provide instructions for completion of this orientation.

Have you been intimidated by the tuition that other online colleges charge? You may have thought that online education is an option you can't afford. But with Baker College Online, in most cases your tuition is less than half that of other major online colleges! This makes Baker one of the most affordable options for higher education available to busy working adult students.Undergraduate cost per credit hour: $180
Graduate cost per credit hour: $300

NEW! Military Education Benefits Guide

“Support our troops" should be more than just a slogan, and Congress agrees. Given the sacrifices service members make on our behalf, they are owed real thanks and recognition. In that vein, Congress has made strides towards tangible troop support with legislation to amp up military members' educational benefits. There are actually many military education benefits service members can use to make education more affordable — for instance, tuition assistance and the MGIB.

Unfortunately, the fine print, caveats, rules, and exemptions can get confusing. To help you sort through the clutter, we've created the Online Guide to Education Benefits for Military Service Members, which breaks down all military education benefits by branch and service status, in plain terms and clear language.

Objective advice. Smart technology.

What sets Insurance.com apart from other auto insurance sites is our technology. You get comparison quotes directly from top car insurance companies for free. Insurance.com's proprietary technology links directly to the auto insurance rating engine of each insurance company we work with. State Farm Florida Insurance Company

State Farm Florida Insurance Company

A Subsidiary of State Farm Mutual Insurance Company

A Message to Our Customers from State Farm Florida's President

State Farm joins the Florida Legislature and millions of Florida consumers in disappointment over Governor Charlie Crist’s June 24 veto of the “Consumer Choice” bill, HB 1171. This landmark legislation was passed by overwhelming majorities in both Houses of the Legislature and supported by voters by more than a 2 to 1 ratio according to polling conducted by the Florida Chamber of Commerce.

If allowed to become law, HB 1171 would have given consumers more options in their choice of a property insurer. It would have attracted more capital to the property insurance market in Florida—capital that’s sorely needed to protect homes and other property in Florida when the next major hurricane hits.

In light of the Governor’s action, State Farm Florida must move forward with its plan to discontinue its property insurance lines in Florida while the Company is still able to meet its contractual obligations to its property insurance customers. State Farm Florida’s net worth has declined by about $200 million since it first requested a rate change less than a year ago and just last week A.M. Best downgraded its financial strength.

As we move forward, I want to make it clear that State Farm Florida customers do not need to take any action at this time. The Company’s withdrawal plan is subject to approval by the state and even after approval, its residential property policyholders will receive at least 6 months notice before their policy is affected. Also, State Farm will continue to market other insurance products in Florida—from auto to life insurance—and also its financial services products.

While we are deeply disappointed by Governor Crist’s veto, State Farm still has a vested interest in a healthy Florida property insurance market and we will continue to work for solutions. Over 800 Florida agents, about 4,100 agent team members, and nearly 5,000 employees live in Florida and it is vitally important that state officials and private insurers, like State Farm, continue to work cooperatively to solve these challenging issues.

Jim Thompson
President
State Farm Florida
